The Value of Fraternal Correction
Considering both the teaching in Matthew 7 about "Judge not" and the text from Matthew 18 about fraternal correction, Fr. Steve invites us to take seriously our responsibility to help each other become saints. To fail to make judgments and help each other grow in virtue and love is a failure to really love them, which, as St. Thomas Aquinas says, is "the effective willing of the true good of the other." Admonishing the sinner is an important, neglected, work of mercy.
