We love, because He first loved us.

Let God transform you so that you can love with His love.

Fr. Steve reflects on the two greatest commandments: to love God and to love our neighbor.

Jn 4:19 “We love, because He first loved us.” All loving comes from God. A test of whether we love God is whether we love those whom he has given us to love: our spouse, children, parents, co-workers, boss. Jesus even wants us to love our enemies. Sometimes the enemy can be someone who is closest to us. Families can be kindest and cruelest places to live. Divorce often results from one party seeing the other as the enemy.

The first reading encourages us to love the alien, the homeless and those who have no one to love them. We may think that that is the Government’s job? But it's not. It’s ours. We need to minister to those who are most in need of love from God.

St. John of the Cross says, "Where you find no love, put love. And then you will draw love out."

Let us allow God to transform us, so that we can love each other as he loves us.
