"In every celebration of the Eucharist, there should be a sufficient number of ministers of Holy Communion so that it may be distributed in a reverent and orderly manner. Bishops, priests and deacons distribute Holy Communion in virtue of their office as ordinary ministers of the Body and Blood of the Lord. When the size of the congregation or the incapacity of the bishop, priest, or deacon requires it, the celebrant may be assisted by other bishops, priests, or deacons. If such ordinary ministers of Holy Communion are not present, 'the priest may call upon extraordinary ministers to assist him, i.e., duly instituted acolytes or even other faithful who have been deputed for this purpose. In case of necessity, the priest may also depute suitable faithful for this single occasion' (General Instruction of the Roman Missal 162)." (2010, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.)

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are men and women who are fully initiated Catholics, and who have discerned a particular call by God to assist the priest in distributing the precious body and blood of Jesus at Mass.

EMHCs must not only exhibit a profound love of our Eucharistic Lord, but must also be properly trained and commissioned by the local parish in concert with the Episcopal office to perform this sacred duty when called upon to do so.

Low Gluten Hosts are available during Mass.  You will need to come to the priest in the center aisle where he as a separate pyx with low gluten hosts available.
