A Great Summer Opportunity for Middle Schoolers

Youth Ministry Children's Activities News Parish News

Dear Parents/Guardians:

I hope 2020 has begun well for you and your family. I am writing you today to encourage you to prayerfully consider signing your middle and high school children up for Catholic Youth Summer Camp (www.cysc.com). CYSC is a week-long residential camp for middle school and high school youth located in Central Ohio. It engages young people into the sacramental life, mission and work of the Catholic Church. CYSC was founded in 2001 and this year will welcome more than 3,700 campers from all over the country!

The activities of Catholic Youth Summer Camp far exceed those of other summer camps, consisting of paintball, high ropes, archery tag, “the blob”, rock wall climbing, ziplines, ultimate capture the flag, canoeing, swimming, and much more. A day at CYSC is packed full of adventure, allowing campers to step outside of their comfort zones, overcome fears and challenges with the help of their peers and counselors, and to experience the joy that comes with life in Christ. Your child will grow in confidence and boldness. This is truly a welcome and joy-filled camp experience!

However, what truly separates Catholic Youth Summer Camp from other camps, and the reason I send you this letter, is the extent to which, through the course of one week, the rich tradition of the Catholic Church is explored through activities, programming, morning prayer, sacred art, service projects, daily mass, daily mysteries of the rosary, adoration, and the sacrament of Reconciliation. CYSC’s intentional focus on the faith formation of their campers allows the campers to experience the vibrancy of our Catholic faith in a truly life-changing way.

At the end of the week, campers are encouraged to LIVE THE ADVENTURE, and they are given the tools to take what they have learned at camp back into their schools, parishes, youth groups, and families.

Catholic Youth Summer Camp has limited space still available and will sell out soon!

While your child may sign up for any week, I thought it would be nice to try to have all the parish youth experiencing this together and encouraging the Middle School youth (incoming 6th graders – 8th grade) to go to week #9 (originally we planned for week #5, but it is now full).

Camp costs $495 for a week of food, lodging, and high adventure. Because our parish sees value in Catholic Youth Summer Camp and knows that it will help to build that Catholic Identity of our school and parish youth, we are offering a scholarship of $100 to all parishioners in need of it. While registering, use the promo code RESURRECTION2020 to apply for this discount.

For more information about camp, or to register, please go to www.cysc.com or contact Susan Bartold at sbartold@corlansing.com. If you are planning to register, please do so soon. There is an option online to pay for camp in monthly installments if that is helpful for you.

In Christ,

Fr. Steve
