I grew up the seventh of ten children in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, under wonderful parents who loved, taught, and lived the Catholic faith. I received a Catholic education both in school and college in Brazil, and met my husband Geoff in graduate school in the USA. We have lived in many states (TX, KS, NJ, NE, and SD) following his academic career. He is now he is a visiting professor at MSU. We have seven children; the youngest is a senior at Lansing Catholic.
I am the Latin teacher at Resurrection School. I teach every grade at least once a week, the middle school grades twice a week. I have been an educator at home for over 25 years, have taught in large homeschool coops, as well as in the parish, public school, and university levels. I am also a writer--I have written articles on Catholic family life for various publications (see a recent one here), children's plays, book reviews, and also educational resources projects. I have organized and led women's Book Clubs, and even given cooking classes!
I am delighted to be teaching Latin at Resurrection School. I love the prayerful environment, the uniforms, and the disciplined, respectful atmosphere. Latin in the Elementary and Middle Schools helps the students decode a lot of English vocabulary, and also introduces them to the idea of where our Christian Western civilization originates.
Thank you to you, parents, your children's primary educators, for bringing up such good students!
