Are you thinking of joining the Catholic faith? Are you not sure yet and would just like some more information as you decide? Are you already a Catholic but have not received all your Sacraments?
Whether you're completely new to the Catholic Church, or coming back after being away – we want to welcome you!
To start with, perhaps you'd like to attend our Resurrection Life Course in the Fall which will help open yourself up to the powerful and liberating experience of new life in Christ through the Holy Spirit.
Or if you're interested, attend one of our many Formation Courses which aim to unpack and explore the richness and beauty of Scripture, the teachings of the Catholic faith and the example and wisdom of the Saints, and provide practical ways in which we can advance in obedience to the two greatest commandments: to love God and to love our neighbor as ourselves.
If you're ready to explore becoming a Catholic, get connected with our OCIA program (which is described below). And, of course, if you'd like to speak to someone about what's best for you, feel free to drop by our office, meet with Fr. Steve, or leave us a message below.
The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) program at the Church of the Resurrection is exactly what you’re looking for if you are interested in becoming Catholic or you'd like to complete your Sacraments. OCIA is the process whereby someone can learn more about what the Catholic Church is all about in a low pressure environment with others who have similar questions, doubts, and interests. During the sessions, we not only explore what the Catholic faith teaches, but we also take time to answer the questions participants have and explore, not only facts and information, but what it means to live the Catholic faith.
Preparation to receive Sacraments typically begins in the Fall. Participants, called Catechumen (those who have not been baptized) and Candidates (those who have been baptized, but have not received other Sacraments), attend weekly classes to learn about and discuss all aspects of the Catholic faith. In the Spring, at the Easter Vigil, Catechumen and Candidates receive their Sacraments.
If you're an adult thinking about becoming Catholic, we want to walk with you! If you think you’re ready to learn more (this is not a commitment to join), please contact Debbie McPherson at [email protected] or at the parish office, (517) 482-4749.
OCIA Classes will begin in the Fall. More information on a date and time coming soon!
If you are new to the Church of the Resurrection, learn more about us and get involved! Our parishioners are ready to welcome you, answer any questions, and are a great way to get to know the Catholic faith. We look forward to meeting you!
